Aging – We Are All Human

Children often discuss how they don’t ever want to grow up. When you’re an adult, it’s easy to feel the same way. Unfortunately, we can’t remain young forever. To slow down the aging process, do some aerobic exercise everyday mixed with occasional light weight training. Numerous scientific studies have shown that exercise improves muscle strength, stamina, bone density and balance. As these four things deteriorate with age, regular exercise could help keep your body in good condition well into your 80s and beyond.

Pay special attention to your diet. As you get older, you need to pay attention to what you are eating much more carefully. A balanced diet is essential to keep as healthy and energized as possible. Try to eat 5 servings of fruits and vegetables, and 3 servings of whole grains per day. Limit your fat intake to no more than 30 percent of your diet. Focus on complex carbohydrates, such as wild rice, whole wheat bread and oatmeal. Last but not least, drink plenty of water.

Engage in activities that will improve and strengthen your memory, like looking at old family photographs. As you get older, events of the past may slowly slip away from your memory. However, if you keep your memory fresh by revisiting past events and walking down memory lane, it will keep that part of your brain alive.

Take care to dress appropriately for the expected weather. Exposure to environmental extremes causes the body stress, which can weaken your immune system and lead to illness. Avoid excessive hot and cold temperatures and always wear sunscreen. A hat should be worn if you will be in the sun and always wear gloves in the winter.

As you age, you will probably notice that memory is becoming less efficient. The human brain experiences a decrease in the number of brain cells as it ages. You can take several steps to diminish the effects of this age-related change. To keep your memory sharp, you should do activities such as crossword puzzles or playing cards with friends to exercise your brain. Staying mentally and socially active will help your mental processes.

Grab a fashionable pair of sunglasses and wear them. Wearing a cute pair of glasses can help with looking younger but the biggest benefit is the protection it gives to your eyes and skin. The skin around our eyes is very thin and the suns UV rays can do a number on that area. Wearing glasses with that protect from uv rays will keep your skin protected and your eyes bright.

It’d be great to be young forever, but since we can’t, we might as well make the best of aging. The advice in the article will continue to be an asset to you as you grow older. You may not be able to stay eternally youthful, but that doesn’t mean you can’t feel youthful.
